Intestinal system
Our modelling of the human digestive system are based both on existing clinical studies where ingestion and the rate of appearance is measured in the blood, and also on our own groups clinical trials, where the look at the impact of different macroneutrient profiles (protein, fat and carbohydrates) correlate to differences in rate of digestion. In our work, we differentiate the macronutrients and its phase (consumed as a liquid or meal), where we both describe the transportation from the mouth into the stomach, from the stomach into the intestines, and finally the rate of appearance in the blood.
